Job description
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are looking to recruit for the role of Steelwork Delivery Team.
The Team Lead will need to liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the Steelwork detailed design for HPC and SZC. The Team Lead will be responsible for the team of Coordinators. This team will be made up of coordination and configuration engineers, and will include Coordination Leads for each building ‘Area’. Ultimately the Team Leader will lead their team to deliver the design and manage the configuration.
This role includes the managing of the team within the current fusion scenario; this will mean managing people in our office in France. Ultimately this role will require facilitating the full transfer or scope to the Bristol office. Part of the role will be to establish the team and set it up for successful delivery. The team does not exist in the current organisation.
Main Activities
Managing steelwork coordination engineers to deliver platform designs and ensure design is mature
Ensuring links with the building layout and piping teams are maintained
Smoothing the path for timely engineering delivery, through reliable planning and scheduling.
Ensuring Open Points are successfully managed to mitigation and resolution, prioritising identified key OPs
Maintaining a strong link with the Steelwork Engineering and Anchorage teams, to achieve project goals
Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures,
Liaising with colleagues in Edvance Paris
Leading the resolution of identified technical issues and interfaces
Ensuring links with the PMO scheduling team, delivering to agreed milestones and managing delivery dates
Delivering SW EDRs, DERs/DENs and designs to meet contractual obligations
Building the Delivery Team through recruitment to create a high performing team
Maintaining competence of the team, through training and allocation of work to build skills.
Profile
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Ability to deliver in a complex environment
Experience in planning and delivering in challenging circumstances
Demonstratable organisation and planning skills
Confident in presenting to an experienced audience
Ability to problem solve and close open points
Able to comfortably discuss engineering topics
Clear communication skills
Commercial acumen
Understanding of UKDC process and CW/SW delivery sequence
Proven experience in leading delivery of scope
Personable, and able to lead in alignment with EPR-E values
English fluent
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Design of seismically classified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery
Use of 3D modelling and structural analysis tools.
Knowledge / Understanding of PWRs
Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering would be advantageous
Knowledge/understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings and anchorages in concrete.
Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures.
Knows how to deal with the design and layout constraints
Anchorage design understanding.
French language skills
