We are currently looking to recruit for the role of SZC Projects Quality Manager for EDF EPR Engineering UK Ltd (EPR-E).
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
The strategy for SZC is for most of the scope of Nuclear Island (NI) design replication activities to be lead and managed in the UK from the Bristol office.
The role of Projects Quality Manager is a key leadership role within SZC project. The role reports to the Edvance Project Director and is part of the Edvance/EPR-E SZC leadership team. This is a new position within SZC project as part of the ramp-up to support the commitments to deliver the contract with the client starting with this year. It will be based in Bristol, UK (with regular travel to Paris as part of the team will remain in France).
The SZC Project Quality Manager (SZC-PQM) manages all the Quality aspects for the SZC project, encompassing EPR-E specific scope and France scope with respect to the Management System in force and the contract Quality requirements. They are the representative and delegate of the Project Director for customer and supplier interfaces regarding any Quality matter raised within the scope of the project.
The individual will be broadly responsible for oversight of the Integrated Management System and other Quality Management documentation; management of quality-related issues; reporting of quality metrics and shortfalls; stakeholder management of other interested parties.
Principal Accountabilities of the SZC Projects Quality Manager will include:
- Ensuring the oversight of the SZC IMS (Integrated Management System) for Edvance and EPR-E with responsibility for its structure and of the publication of the related documentation to all project stakeholders.
- Developing & improving project-specific Quality Management documentation, specifically the Project Quality Plan and Project instructions, in compliance with the Management System principles, the SZC Replication principles and strategy and considering the contract specificities between EPR-E and clients.
- Ensuring that knowledge of Quality processes and instructions is widely deployed and implemented within the project teams.
- Managing the treatment of situations adverse to Quality: Audit findings, condition reports, non-conformances etc. until proper resolution has been achieved.
- Setting quality targets, including monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of project quality management by following up and analysing audits, non-conformances, corrective actions and client issues.
Operating Environment
The SZC Project Quality Manager is a member of the SZC Direction Team and EPR-E Extended Leadership Team. The role is based in the Bristol office (at Aztec West).
Other key stakeholders are based:
- Aztec West office in north Bristol
- Edvance offices in France (mainly Paris)
- London at the SZC Client premises
- Gloucester at EDF’s offices (Gloucester Business Park).
For this reason, travel within UK and to France is required as part of the role.

To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experiences are essential:
- Degree Level education or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Fundamental experience in a quality-related engineering discipline
- Leadership experience in a quality-related engineering discipline
- Nuclear New Build, EPR or PWR experience
- Good understanding of requirements and expectations of Quality
- Management systems, regulations, nuclear industry operating experience and best practices
- Leadership experience in a highly regulated, technical environment
- Excellent communication, organisational and people engagement skills
- Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Exemplary team and pastoral management skills
- Ability to set, achieve and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality
- Fluent English.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Working knowledge of the French language
- Experience of EPR-specific quality management processes
- Formal auditor qualification accredited to ISO9001 or ISO19443
- Chartered status with the CQI or equivalent professional institute.
