Job description
The Civil Team Lead reports to the Civil Transverse Discipline Group Lead (both operational and functional manager).
Internal interfaces include other Team leads, Civil Engineers, Contract Managers, Contract Engineering Leads, Project Managers, and engineers from other disciplines.
Externally, they will collaborate with equivalent teams leads in JDO, and with subcontracted civil design firms.
They will also interface with clients and subcontractors on both the HPC and SZC projects.
Principal Accountabilities
- Daily operational management of a team of civil engineers working on the HPC and SZC projects at EPR-E
- Defining activity priorities, optimise team workload, and ensure that schedules align with project commitments.
- Collaborating with the Civil Transverse Discipline Group Lead to ensure safety remains a top priority
- Ensuring the quality of design activities across the team, including adherence to engineering manuals, standards, processes, tools, and methods
- Integrating lessons learned from previous EPR projects into current activities
- Collaborating with the Civil Transverse Discipline Group Lead in developing technical competencies within the team
- Reviewing engineering documents to ensure compliance with technical, nuclear safety, and environmental standards
- Providing input to the Discipline Group Lead on risks and issues related to quality, workload, schedule, and team competencies
Competency Development & Knowledge Sharing
- Acting as a technical mentor for junior engineers and new team members
- Developing and/or supporting internal training modules on reinforced concrete design, nuclear-specific requirements, etc...
- Contributing to the creation and maintenance of technical guidelines, design manuals, and best practice documentation
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence
Profile
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Senior Civil Engineer or Civil Expert
- Proven experience in team management
- Master’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (PhD is a plus)
- Minimum 15 years of experience in reinforced concrete design, preferably in the nuclear or energy sector
- Strong knowledge of nuclear civil engineering codes (e.g., RCC-CW, Eurocodes, ASCE)
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ETABS, SAP2000, SCIA)
- Experience with seismic design and safety-class structures is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Solid experience in HPC and SZC design review processes with nuclear authorities
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
