HSE Advisor

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Quality, Health, Safety and Environment team here at Framatome UK!

We are currently seeking a HSE Advisor to join our team in Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater to play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of personnel, protecting the environment, and maintaining compliance with rigorous regulatory standards. This position requires a strong understanding of both general and nuclear-specific HSE risks, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement

 

What will you be doing?

  • Advise management and operational teams to ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Support interactions with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify radiological, chemical, biological, and conventional hazards in the workplace.
  • Recommend and help implement effective control measures to mitigate identified risks, ensuring the safety of employees and the public.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of permit-to-work systems for high-risk activities.
  • Assist in the immediate response to HSE incidents, including containment, notification, and initial investigation.
  • Participate in or lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Help disseminate lessons learned from incidents to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training and induction programs for employees and contractors as required.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety tours to monitor compliance with HSE standards and identify unsafe conditions or behaviours.
  • Support environmental monitoring programs
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of risk assessments, incidents, training, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of HSE procedures, policies, and manuals.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and testing of emergency response plans.
  • Participate in organising and evaluating emergency drills to ensure readiness.
  • Track HSE performance indicators, analyse trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Stay up to date with national and international HSE regulations and standards relevant to nuclear operations
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and support their implementation within the organisation.
  • Advise and support employees, supervisors, and managers on HSE matters.
  • Assist in communicating HSE performance and initiatives to external stakeholders, including contractors, regulators, and the local community.

 

Profile

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of set up and implementing processes and procedures.
  • On-site experience of maintenance, manufacturing, fabrication and erection including lifting operations,
  • Temporary Works etc
  • Excellent team working skills
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision and intervention
  • Ability to take responsibility for problems within their own remit and to deliver solutions
  • Results focused with the ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Confident manner, good presentation skills
  • Determination - not easily discouraged or put off
  • Positive outlook – always sees opportunity through any adversity

 

Work pattern: On Site

 

Training and Development Expectations:

  • NEBOSH certificate
  • Experience in Accident / Incident Investigation /Problem solving
  • Experience in highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience of Nuclear or other high risk, high regulated industry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Post weld heat treatment an advantage.
    Understanding of the key attributes of nuclear safety culture
  • Demonstrable field engagement (site)
  • Experience in Project delivery, (or relevant challenging environment)
