Job description
We are seeking a Lead Quality Inspector to join our team in Avonmouth.
This role will support the delivery of key projects within the nuclear sector, working in a safety-focused environment where quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
What You'll Be Doing :
Support the quality process to ensure the high level of quality standards are maintained and in accordance with the relevant requirements. Leading a team of Quality Inspectors in a group that sits within the Quality Inspection team.
• Monitoring and co-ordination inspection activities related to their team ensuring prioritisation as per schedules and objectives.
• Attendance of DAB (Daily Action Brief) meetings to ensure alignment with other departments and priorities.
• Ensure compliance to customer and product specifications through rigorous inspections.
• Carry out visual and dye-penetrant inspection of welds in accordance with applicable specifications and procedures.
• Carry out dimensional inspection of products ensuring compliance to drawing requirements.
• Co-ordination of Quality Inspectors for approving incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and reporting unacceptable materials.
• Co-ordination of Quality Inspectors for approving in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to Quality Inspection Manager.
• Approving finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for rework; confirming rework.
• Coordinate surveillance and inspection requirements in line with applicable Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Dealing with document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarising rework and waste.
• Keeping measurement equipment in working condition by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
• Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Profile
What are we looking for?
We're interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:
• CSWIP Level 2 (3.1) Welding Inspection (essential).
• PCN L2 Dye Pen or CSWIP equivalent (essential).
• 5+ years proven relevant experience as a Quality Inspector (essential).
• Experience in dimensional inspection (essential).
• Knowledge of Fabrication / Welding (essential).
• PCN L2 RI/Radiographic Interpretation (desirable).
• Experience with leading/managing others, utilising good decision making skills.
• Knowledge of Quality tools and systems e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, EFQA etc.
• Experience of developing and implementing processes and procedures.
• Experience leading investigations / problem solving.
• High level of competence in MS Office products.
• Previous experience in a highly regulated industry advantageous;
• Questioning attitude;
• The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention
• Highly organised with attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills including influencing and presenting
• Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative with a can-do attitude
• Ability to take responsibility for problems within their own remit and to deliver solutions
• Results focused with the ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
• Discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Pressure Water Reactor (PWR) knowledge and experience.
