Job description

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

We are looking to recruit for the role of Project Controls Manager

The Project Controls Manager at ITB plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective project management through comprehensive control mechanisms. Reporting to both the ITBx Managers and the Head of Edvance Project Controls, this position is responsible for overseeing a team of Project Controllers, Operational Schedulers, Change and Risk Coordinators.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to adapt to dynamic project environments. Proficiency in English is required, while fluency in French is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of Project Controllers, Operational Schedulers, Change Coordinators, and Risk Coordinators, ensuring alignment with project objectives and delivery timelines.

  • Develop and implement project controls strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient project delivery, cost control, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the project controls team, providing guidance, feedback, and training as necessary to maintain high standards of performance.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels between project stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely dissemination of project information, progress reports, and risk assessments.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, working closely with the risk coordinators to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Oversee the change management process, ensuring that changes to project scope, schedule, and budget are properly documented, assessed for impact, and approved in accordance with project governance procedures.
  • Collaborate with operational schedulers to develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress against milestones, and identify opportunities for schedule optimization.
  • Ensure a successful preparation for Financial key yearly exercises (LE2,LE3,EAC).
  • Lead the preparation of main contractual exercises (Task order preparation, Work order follow up).
  • Ensure that project controls processes and deliverables adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Profile

To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience are essential: 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing project challenges
  • Agility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic project environment.
  • Proficiency in project and cost management management software tools such as Ecosys and SA
  • Proficiency in cost management methodologies, including Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost control techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with clients and key stakeholders to address cost-related issues and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Fluency in English is required, while proficiency in French is preferred
