Job description
The planned working pattern will be to carry out the following:
· Support the SZB Outage (scheduled for every 18 months for a 6-to-12-week period).
· Working in the SZB Maintenance Department.
· Work on overseas Outages in various countries including Finland, South Africa, Brazil etc.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Support refuelling and maintenance outages, including reactor loading and unloading activities.
· Operate specialised fuel handling equipment and machinery to move, install and remove nuclear fuel assemblies.
· Perform routine equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and report defects or abnormalities.
· Work closely with engineering, operations and radiation protection teams to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
· Participate in ongoing training, including specialised training coursers overseas.
· Adhere to procedures, relevant quality procedures and assist with quality records and documentation.
· Maintain equipment and small tools for assembly / calibration.
· Perform leak detection, pressure testing and integrity assessments of Nuclear Steam Supply Systems (NSSS).
Detailed QHSE responsibilities:
· Never undertake work without first ensuring that means will be in place to guarantee that the work can be done in a safe and compliant manner.
· Be suitably familiar with the contents of the Risk Assessment and Method Statements and Permit to Work
· Attend any HSE training, meetings, etc. as requested.
· Attend & participate in Toolbox Talks.
· Ensure that tools, equipment and materials brought into and used in the area are fully checked and are compliant with HSE requirements.
· Ensure that no work is carried out unless supported by the relevant specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Permits.
· Ensure that all incidents and near misses are reported
Profile
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
· NVQ Level 3 or above in relevant mechanical qualification.
· Proven experience in a heavy mechanical industry.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow complex technical procedures.
· Excellent safety record and understanding of HSE regulations.
· Ability to work in a highly regulated and procedural environment.
· Be able to read and understand detailed engineering drawings.
· Nuclear experience is NOT essential for this role.
Desirable:
· Experience in skilful, controlled manipulations of small objects & torquing techniques & processes.
· Experience of testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning processes
· Previous rigging experience & qualification.
· Experience with static & rotating equipment.
