Job description
We are seeking a Project Controller to join our team in Sizewell B.
What will you be doing?
Within this position you will be responsible for:
In accordance with the project drumbeat and quality standards, undertake standard Project Controls activities across all sub-disciplines, such as:
Cost Control
- Utilise SAP to generate cost collection codes, extract data, and produce cost reports;
- Gather and validate actual costs for work packages;
- Work with project and work package managers to generate estimates of cost for new work packages and the remaining cost (Estimate to Complete, ETC), validating and challenging the EAC for their work packages/ projects.
- Support the production of EVM and productivity reporting by ensuring source data captured and prepared accurately.
Planning & Scheduling
- Extract reports, data, and periodic lookaheads for projects and work packages from the schedule;
- Conduct periodic schedule updates for progress made and future reforecasting, including physically validating progress where necesssary;
- Know the quality standards for a schedule and be able to assure schedules against these;
- Develop, baseline and manage a fully cost and resource loaded schedule, producing reporting such as critical path analysis, delay analysis, EVM and schedule adherence;
- Conduct resource management from the schedule including demand vs availability analysis, and resource smoothing/ levelling.
RAID Management
- Understand the project RAID log and be able to describe the risks and their impacts to the relevant work packages;
- Be able to produce standard RAID reports such as TopN, Due Mitigation Actions, and Contingency Drawdown Curves;
- Update individual risks with risk owners including revising impacts and updating mitigation actions;
- Be able to run risk workshops with various stakeholders to either identify new risks or manage existing ones.
Document Control
- Interface with document control systems, uploading and downloading documentation, and extracting data for status reporting;
- Issue, track and log transmittals;
- Conduct non-technical documentation reviews.
The above will be undertaken autonomously, under limited supervision from Project Controls Manager, on a delegated area of responsibility such as a small project, a Control Account, or a collection of Work Packages.
Key outputs:
Cost Control
- Periodically updated and validated EAC for relevant work packages
- Work package level cost reporting
Planning & Scheduling
- Periodically updated and validated schedule, including progress and forecast, for relevant work packages
- Schedule reports and extracts including resource analysis
- Peer review of schedule quality for other project controllers
RAID Management
- New risks and full risk register updates
- Periodically updated RAID items and actions
- Work package level RAID reports
Document Control
- Non- technical documentation reviews etc

What are we looking for?
Ideal experience for this position would include:

- APM Associate Membership
- APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
- APMG Project Planning & Controls (PPC) Foundation
- Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate
- Primavera P6 Fundamentals
And would be expected to gain the following within 2 years:
- APMG Project Planning and Controls- Practitioner
- APM Project Risk Level 1
- APMG Earned Value Foundation
- Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Specialist"
An entrant into the Project Controller role is likely someone who has spent around two years in a project controls role and is either heavily experienced in one project controls sub-function, or has been responsible for multiple sub-functions. They are confident and capable in being able to undertake core project controls activities for small areas of project delivery with limited supervision, to a suitable standard. They must be actively interested in their own development and keen to become competent on more advanced project controls tools and techniques, and being responsible for project controls outputs on more complex or larger scopes. They are able to exercise judgement and to provide a limited level of challenge, validation, analysis and testing the information going into and coming out of project controls systems, and can present and explain their outputs to work package, control account and project managers.
An established Project Controller will be able to conduct more advanced project controls techniques under minimal supervision and will be suitably experienced to guide and support junior project controllers in their duties. They will be producing their outputs to a high standard, using advanced techniques to drive deeper accuracy and realism to their work, actively identifying the causes of inaccuracies and variances and implementing solutions to resolve these each month.
