Job description
The SZC Project Technical Directorate (SZC-TD) role is to maintain and exert the technical authority of the Project. To demonstrate full control of the SZC Nuclear Island (NI) technical integration, the SZC-TD sets up the replication strategy on the NI scope, ensures the technical integration of the contributions from all disciplines, coordinates the project delegates within technical department, implement and deliver the overall engineering process.
What you’ll be doing…
· Manage the interfaces with stakeholders across all relevant Responsible Designer (RD) entities, the Client Organisation (SZC) and EPR-E’s Nuclear Safety & Environment (NS&E) Discipline, in particular to secure the replication justification activities;
· Liaise with all Stakeholders (Relevant RD Entities, Client Organisation (SZC), EPR-E’s NS&E Discipline) to ensure the replication of Safety studies from HPC to SZC;
· Oversee and instruct any Contract/ Change Management (Change Requests, Early Warning Notes, etc…) in collaboration with the Client Organisation (SZC) and NS&E Discipline;
· Work closely with the NS&E Discipline Group Lead, to ensure that SZC safety objectives and operational requirements are well defined and shared, in good time, with the NS&E’s Safety Teams for consideration, processing and implementation/ delivery;
· Ensure the safety related activities/ tasks to be included in each yearly SZC Task Order are defined in conjunction with, both, the Client Organisation (SZC) and the NS&E Discipline Group Lead and that the converged (frozen) iteration of such activities with their associated budget are passed on, in good time, to the NS&E Safety Teams for implementation and delivery;
· Secure the delivery, by the NS&E Safety Teams, of SZC’s safety activities/ tasks against the Contract with the Client Organisation (SZC), on time and right first-time;
· Ensure, by working with the NS&E Discipline Group Lead, that possible Design Changes (DCs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Intermediate Configuration Milestones (ICMs) activities, etc… are suitably analysed and technical issues identified/ resolved by the relevant NS&E Safety Technical Expertise,
· Oversee the formal review of technical deliverables produced by the NS&E Safety Teams and, when required, approve them if Suitably Qualified or Experienced Person (SQEP);
· Present reports on NS&E Safety Teams progress across multiple Project forums and account for any gaps in hours/ costs for Safety related activities/ tasks as required;
· Manage identified Project (SZC) risks and any opportunities linked to SZC safety activities/ tasks.
Profile
What are we looking for?
Your background may include some of the following:
· Degree qualified Engineer (in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline),
· Strong knowledge of Nuclear Safety generally on EPR or PWR designs,
· Experience in a relevant position, preferably from a highly regulated industry,
· The ability to take a strategic view with good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels,
· Motivated and disciplined with an ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work across multiple workstreams,
· Able to review technical documents which present complex arguments clearly,
· Take a proactive approach to management and resolution of technical topics,
· Strong organisational and communication skills, able to liaise between multiple stakeholders and maintain a clear overview for specific topics,
· Leadership skills,
· Fluent English.
