Job description

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

For the HPC/SZC project, we are looking to recruit for the role of Low Voltage System Engineer & Technical Engineering Lead.

The Low Voltage System Engineer & Technical Engineering Lead main roles are:

  • Produce, Review and update the system documentation for the low voltage switchboards of the plant, this includes operator instructions, human machine interface, safety and environmental specification, control logic design, as well as periodic testing in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes, and tools
  • Managing requests for modifications to system(s) issued by various external parties by producing specifications and following engineering cycle (I&C and/or mechanical design changes specifications)
  • Analysis and verification of the applicability of these modifications and challenging them as appropriate
  • Developing technical solutions and presenting them to the client to help resolve technical issues (technico-economic optimisation approach
  • Organising and performing the technical review and acceptance of the documentation produced by the equipment supplier under the guidance of the Contract Engineering Lead
  • Ensure the follow-up of risks, opportunities, open points and modifications of its contract with the Client.
  • Follow-up of the activity of manufacturing for HPC Unit 1&2 in interface with other stakeholders
  • Manage the interfaces with all Edvance disciplines involved in providing the input data relevant for their contract
  • Manage the interfaces the qualification part performed in EDVANCE France
  • Contribute to topics around good practises, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality

Participate in experience sharing activities (OPEX shared with other projects and if coming from other projects, integrated within HPC when possible)

The Low Voltage System Engineer & Technical Engineering Lead is supported by a team of technicians and engineers as well as a senior expert. They work in close relationship with the Contract Engineer Lead of the equipment contract

This position is within our Bristol Engineering back office.

 

 

Profile

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills required: 

  • Master degree in Electrical / electronic or equivalent
  • Previous experience within the industry
  • Proven experience and understanding with power distribution system
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability
  • Good organizational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset

 

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Relevant experience in nuclear industry
  • Experience in supplier management
  • Understanding of Instrumentation and Control design
  • Experience of producing design documentation and Test Specifications
  • Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics
  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream discipline
  • Ability to meet commitments and deadlines

Salary Range: £43,000 - £48,000 - (negotiable depending on experience)

 

The post is restricted due to the nature of the role and the export control regulations which apply. All applicants will be subject to national security and export control vetting processes.
