Job description

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

For the HPC/SZC project, we are looking to recruit for the role of IEG Contract Engineer Lead.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Act as entry point for the client organization concerning all topics linked to the IEG contract(s) and to produce support to the Client organization for technical issue
  • Ensure the technical management of the supplier and support the Client in its contractual relationship with the supplier during the contract execution phase (in particular with regard to compliance with the schedule, costs, and scope of supply and studies).
  • Review of supplier documents according to technical referential in time with good level of quality and coordinate the documentary review of the various contributors
  • Depending on the workload required for the supplier document review, the IEG Contract Engineer Lead might be supported by one or several technical lead, the IEG Lead in this case will be coordinating their work so that document / topics are handled in time.
  • Produce comment sheets via dedicated tool to the supplier and organise clarification with supplier if needed
  • Manage modifications on the contracts to inform supplier via CTS (Contract Transfer Sheet) sent to the Client via dedicated tools
  • Entry point for all modifications, technical issues or non-conformities coming from site activities
  • Ensure the management of risks, opportunities, open points and modifications of its contract with the Client.
  • Follow-up of the activity of manufacturing for HPC Unit 2 in interface with other stakeholders
  • Manage the interfaces with all Edvance disciplines involved in providing the input data relevant for the IEG contract
  • Manage the interfaces with all Edvance disciplines using the IEG contract detailed design as their inputs
    Manage the interfaces the qualification part performed in EDVANCE France
  • Follow up of all the Delivery To Site dates for the equipment
  • Contribute to topics around good practises, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality
  • Participate in experience sharing activities (OPEX shared with other projects and if coming from other projects, integrated within HPC when possible)
     

Profile

To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience is essential:

  • Master’s degree in an electrical / electronic discipline or equivalent
  • Fundamental experience in specification, design, procurement or installation of electrical components.
    Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D design software
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
    Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies is a distinct advantage
     

The following qualifications, skills and experience is desirable:

  • Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability
  • Good organizational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents
  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines
  • Ability to meet commitments and deadlines
  • French language is advantageous
