In the UK we are currently over 300 strong and our plans are to grow to 400-500 by 2025 through the development our UK nuclear service offerings.

Our EPR-E business, Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

The Hazards Engineer conducts studies relating to internal and external hazards (such as extreme cold, internal explosion, pipework ruptures and earthquakes…) on the buildings within the Nuclear Island to verify that the safety functions of the building are met through the design and construction phase.

Key responsibilities:

  • Producing updates to Hazard Verification Studies, through the application of relevant technical methodologies, relating to I
  • Internal and External Hazards for buildings:Produce simplified design calculation hypotheses and define the various possible scenarios for each internal or external threat situation:
  • Identify the equipment under threat and also the way in which the equipment would be affected.
  • Produce studies on the functional redundancies impacted.
  • Manage technical topics relating to the protection requirements for the hazards within the building and system design,
  • Support matrix organisation through the design and construction phase with technical requests and design changes by providing technical expertise on the implementation of the safety functional requirements within the design,
  • Participate to Edvance wide discipline meetings relating to hazards

Profile

To be considered, we require the following qualifications, skills and experience: 

 

  • Engineer qualified to degree level or equivalent preferably specializing in safety
  • Knowledge of safety requirement implementation and hazard studies (preferably from a highly regulated industry)
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Safety Assessment Principles and experience of their application
  • Experience in the area of systems, layout engineering and pipework
  • Knowledge and the ability to navigate PDMS and Navisworks software.
  • English speaker, French is advantageous

We are offering a salary of between £53,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience, plus excellent benefits to include:
