Job description
We are seeking a Graduate Thermohydraulic to join the Safety Engineering team at Framatome UK. This role is designed for a motivated graduate aiming to build expertise across thermal-hydraulics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and reactor safety analysis.
The role will focus on:
· CFD modelling and simulation, supporting detailed fluid flow and heat transfer analysis within nuclear systems,
· And to system-level thermohydraulic safety analysis and reactor transient modelling.
You will contribute to safety and design studies for current and future nuclear technologies (PWRs, EPRs, SMRs, and Generation IV reactors), combining high-fidelity CFD analysis with system-scale modelling tools.
Key Activities:
Under supervision and progressively increasing autonomy, you will:
· Build and run CFD models for fluid flow and heat transfer in nuclear systems
· Create meshes, set up simulations, and analyse results
· Perform parametric and sensitivity studies
· Support model validation and method development
· Develop system-level models using tools like CATHARE or RELAP
· Simulate reactor transients and analyse system behaviour
· Assess safety margins and key assumptions
· Contribute to technical reports and safety documentation
· Support validation and quality processes
· Collaborate with project teams and share knowledge
Key Outputs:
You will contribute to the preparation of:
· CFD simulation models, results, and validation studies
· Thermohydraulic calculation files and transient analysis outputs
· Technical and safety analysis reports
· Sections of reactor safety cases
· Methodology notes and modelling guidelines
· Technical presentations (internal and external)

- Exposure to CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, CFX, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+)
- Understanding of turbulence modelling, multiphase flow, and numerical methods
- Basic knowledge of system codes (CATHARE, RELAP, TRACE, MANTA)
Languages (level):
- English fluent (required)
- French – bonus
