Job description

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.
We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Interfaces Engineer within the PHPC Interface Team.
The engineer will collaborate with other teams within the HPC project service, particularly within the Technical Directorate, including the Sequence team and the PMO team. Additionally, they maintain communication with interface correspondents from each entity within Edvance, CNEPE, DIPNN/DT, DIPNN/DI, NNB, and Framatome.

The main activities of the Engineering Interfaces Engineer are as follows:

  • Collaboration with Technical Stakeholders: collaborate with technical stakeholders (sequence pilot, macro-activity pilot, etc.) to analyse and identify technical interfaces within the scope of the entities for which you are responsible and contribute to implementing a process for controlling critical interfaces.
  • Mastery and Management of Technical Interface Portfolio: as the “Engineering Interfaces Engineer,” effectively facilitate bilateral exchanges between technical entities.
  • Handling Interface Steps within Specified Timelines: ensure timely handling of various interface steps as described in INS-305.
  • Management of UK-ICM Tool for Technical Interfaces: oversee the UK-ICM tool for technical interfaces.
  • Support for Strategic Interface Committee preparation, planning, and facilitation: assist in preparing, planning, and facilitating Strategic Interface Committees. Also, handle ad-hoc topics related to interfaces.
  • Planning and facilitation of Operational Interface Committees: organize and lead Operational Interface Committees.
  • Development of Quality KPIs within Timelines: develop various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on project needs. These KPIs relate to interface monitoring and other relevant metrics.
  • Contributing to Supplier Interface Management Process Implementation: contribute to establishing the process for managing interfaces with suppliers.
  • Anticipating Interface Needs: proactively identify interface requirements.
  • Driving Process Improvements for Interfaces: propose enhancements to the interfaces process, participate in drafting functional specifications for tools, and monitor the developments

Profile

Operating Environment

The role is based in the Bristol office (at Aztec West). The key stakeholders are based:

  • Aztec West office in north Bristol
  • Edvance offices in France, mainly Paris, and Germany
  • Hinkley Point C site in Somerset
  • Gloucester Business Park.

For this reason, travel in UK and regular travel to France and Germany is required as part of the role.

 

To be considered, the following qualifications, experience and skills are essential

  • Degree Level or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Strong and proven experience in engineering / leadership / project management
  • Nuclear New Build, EPR or PWR experience
  • Robust knowledge and extensive experience of the EPR design and engineering processes
  • Project and delivery management experience
  • Good understanding of requirements and expectations of UK laws, regulations, nuclear industry operating experience and best practices;
    Technical leadership experience in a highly regulated, technical environment
  • Excellent communication, organisational and people engagement skills;
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Exemplary team and pastoral management skills
  • Ability to set, achieve and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality
  • Fluent English.
     

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Working knowledge of the French language;
  • Experience in transverse technical coordination
  • Good overall technical background
