Job description
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the HPC and SZC project, we are looking to recruit for the role of I&C Cabling Engineer to support the development of the electrical discipline within EPR-E.
Within the cabling and routing team, the main responsibilities of the Cable Routing Engineer involves, for the Hinkley Point C project, designing, developing, reviewing the cable routing network of the HPC project in correlation with the UK cabling rules and the UK nuclear regulation. The engineer will be assigned to produce routing deliverables and apply studies in specified buildings from the nuclear island using an optimized in-house routing software to achieve the below regular tasks:
- Provide the routing reports for delivery assuring the integrity of the output data (reliable cable paths and lengths) and fulfilling the project requirements according to the UK routing rules (lifetime margins, safety function integrity, electrical segregations…).
- Interface with the layout team to provide the routing reports to assess the trays filling rates or address the queries preventing the routing production (3D model quality check, civil work electrical opening management, cable trays design to match with the routing requirement…).
- Assess feasibility studies for design changes or open points impacting the routing activity. Perform risk assessments, set mitigation in an event of critical modifications.
- Provide user feedback concerning the use of the routing software (Performance, weakness, troubleshooting…), apply beta testing.
- Communicate the updates and studies progress to the routing weekly follow-up meeting, the layout or the management board.
- Provide training and introduction to the cable routing software and the cable routing discipline, rules and regulations.
- Participate in experience sharing activities (OPEX shared from other projects assessing any possible integration for HPC).
